Chiaroscuro (Charcoal Drawing Project)
Constraints: We had to find a black and white photo off the internet to draw. Our materials were vine charcoal, charcoal pencils (black and white), and kneaded erasers. First off I learned how to draw with charcoal which I hadn't really done before. I also learned how to use white charcoal after the black to add more value to my piece. This piece is 12"x18"
Chalk Pastel Portraits
Complementary Colors: I used mostly red, blue, black, and brown in this and some skin tones.
Size: 18 x 24 inches
Who: I drew Franky Villani
Process: I started this by doing some practice sketches. Then I drew out his face in pencil on the big piece paper, once I had that done I just started coloring and shading with the pastels. It was really hard for me to get the right colors using complementary colors. Getting the facial features drawn out correctly was also a really big challenge for me.
